About the event

For the past few years, the Checkerboard Partnership has been working hard to permanently protect 27,000 acres of privately held land in Kittitas County for future generations. A part of that work is focused on turning over 9,000 acres of land on the Cle Elum Ridge into a community forest. You may have read about this recently in the local paper, seen a post on Facebook, or heard it from someone else.

But who is the Checkerboard Partnership, what lands are they trying to protect, and what is this business about a community forest on the Cle Elum Ridge? You will find all of the answers to these questions and more at the Checkerboard Partnership 101 event on Tuesday, June 8th from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM.

Melissa Speeg (Kittitas Conservation Trust) and Nicky Pasi (Mountains to Sound Greenway) will give an overview of the Checkboard Partnership and leave lots of time for your questions and if you are interested, information about how to get involved. For those with questions before the event, contact Melissa Speeg at  mspeeg@kittitasconservationtrust.org.
